I have a qidi tech printer with the regular stock blue liner on the plate. I print mainly with pla at about 57 degrees for the build plate. My prints are nearly impossible to pry off. I use the thin spatula thing I seen mentioned in some posts to help pry it off but pretty much ended up bending that into oblivion after a week of use. Went with a razor and cut the blue liner ended up replacing that one with the extra that came with the printer. So needless to say I need help hah. I seen recommendations for the maghold, the borosilicate glass, and even a plain picture frame piece of glass… Pretty confused with all the opinions, some say the magbuild warps over time after all the bending etc which pretty much would equal useless, the b. glass some folks say it’s perfect for pla others say glass for abs… So few questions…
1. Magbuild warp? I guess it makes since that u bend something over and over it will eventually bow but open to opinion.
2. When using the boroscillate glass, granted it is actually ok for PLA, do I have to take the blue sticker off? If so why? (Not because I’m arguing just cause I like the knowledge of how stuff works)
3. A picture frame glass, I feel like it would break and end up with souveniier stitches lol, is that safe to use?
4. Is there anything else I can try I’m missing?
Yeah get rid of blue M3 sticker. I was using a scraper blade to remove my prints and there is always air trapped under it giving an uneven base. I guess some people like the Magbuild system but I believe it is not a cost effective solution and you still have consumables to buy. What I did was buy borosilicate glass 3mm thick from ebay 16$. Printed custom made holding clips. Remove blue thing and clean aluminum with acetone to remove all glue left behind. Install clips, spray glass with extra hold hair spray, l use Aquanet. QIDI Glass Bed Clips by ChrisX35 - Thingiverse check out my link on Thingiverse for further information. I will never use anything but glass for my QIDI. The bed is 100% level with glass. Any filament sticks to it with hair spray. No need for scraping off print just let the glass cool for a few hours and it just pops off on its own. Not to mention the whole system is less than 20$. You should join Thingiverse if you haven’t already and join QIDI group for more info and upgrades.
I use glass and I would stay away from hardware store glass since it can shatter or splinter (just a safety thing). I use hair spray or glue stick has been working well.
I have taken a sheet of PEI and put it on the glass and that has worked out good also.
If you go glass you must have a shim so don’t forget to print what you need before modifying the printer bed!!
