I’m looking for a second 3d printer and wanted to know what you would advise.
The most important criterias for me are :
- a quite large print volume (20x20x20 cm or 8 x 8 x 8 " or more)
- not a kit
- Preference for an “enclosed” one (like witbox,…)
- variety of materials (pla, wood, bronzefill, nylon, pet, flex), ABS not necessary (heated bed is not required, even if it would be a +), 1.75 mm filament if possible as I already have quite a stock
- speed : not too slow (Currently I have a M3D, and it’s just too slow)
- auto leveling, or at least easy leveling
Max budget : around 2K $
Currently I’ve listed those :
- bq Witbox 2 (only found model 1 on the printer list)
- ZYYX+ (only found the ZYYX, without the +, on the printer list)
- CraftBot Plus
- CreatBot DX (not found in printer list, a bit above budget)
- Flashforge Creator Pro
What would be your advice ? Have you tested these printers ?
Any other printer to recommend ?
We, 3d hubs hubs, have tested all of these printers: Best 3D Printer Guide 2023 | Hubs It’s a great place to look. You could get a mankati enclosed under $2 k and very large build area.
Not that bad, but my $599 “prusa steel” prints better prints and its not enclosed… If you want I can send you comparisson pics for you to determine the print quality using bq filament on BOTH printers…
I owned 4 witbox1 I ended up selling to buy the WB2 blindly. If i would have known, I wouldnt have bought it but instead seeked alternatives.
HI, thank you for your comment!
Have you personnaly used a Mankati ? Like the Mankati XT Plus (still under 2k, large build area, heated bed and dual extruders,… quite impressive).
I have a Robo3d R1+ Plus and I love it. The only down side is that it is open but I haven’t had a problem with that, I still print abs and everything else under the rainbow all the time. Literally. Between here and Robo3d’s forum you can get questions answered in an hour. They also have great customer service! the build plate is something like 10" x 9" x 8" and sells at $799.99.
If you want to tinker there are plenty of upgrades due to it being open source.
The quality and reliability of the Mankati is not great. It is a nice machine for it’s price in combination with it’s specifications. The extruders are still a bit frustrating.
I tried to react at your other post but Hubs had a bug.
This was my answer about the ZYYX+:
I like the ZYYX+. I print daily with 2 of them and it’s a nice improvement on the ‘old’ ZYYX. The cooling is better and the X-Y construction is more stable. The extruder is still one of the most reliable extruders i ever worked with. The only issue i have is the navigation of the print-file-list on the machine can be a bit slow. And if you want to print a lot with ABS, it’s not the best choice. For strong parts i use Polymax or Colorfab XT.
Another issue can be it’s weight. I do many workshops and it’s a heavy machine.
I’m also happy with Simplify3D, it’s very nice to work with.
My perfect duo at this moment are the ZYYX+ (PLA, Polymax, PC, PET, TPU/Flex) and the Zortrax M200 (ABS, PCABS, HIPS, PET). Try to get a demo somewhere, it can help.
