Yep, that’s right! Turns out PLA is not only stronger than expected at the human-scale, but is also buoyant!
Last week we had the pleasure of taking our intern Akshay’s inspired 3D printed surfboard out on the waves in Sligo, Ireland. Seven surfers took it out in two locations and were able to stand up & hang ten.
We’ve collected a lot of lessons learned (as well as a 100+ stickers of start-ups that attended Web Summit the week beforehand) and are in the process of writing a blog to capture the details on re3d.org.
We’d love your input on what information you would like us to include.
So sorry it took so long to draft: the surfboard was really a community effort and we wanted to circle back with key players to properly credit so many that supported the project. You can read about how the project was conceived and executed at: https://re3d.org/re-thinking-buoyancy-hanging-10-on-a-4pc-pla-surfboard/. Please continue sharing feedback and questions!
